Green Family Cars

When buying a car for you and your family a number of manufacturers are producing a greener version of their standard road cars. Some of these manufacturers provide greener versions across their entire range.

The cars that you initially think of as being green is the hybrid car. In the UK there are two main manufacturers of these, Honda and Toyota. Currently in the UK the only available hybrids are the Toyota Prius and the Honda Civic Hybrid, however both manufacturers have signalled that they intend to increase the range of their vehicles with hybrid options.

Hybrid cars are not the only solution and various manufacturers have provided greener versions of their standard cars. Ford has it ECOnetic range, this is currently available for the Focus and Mondeo. The new Fiesta will also feature an ECOnetic version in 2008 which is expected to produce less than 100g/km of carbon dioxide.

Volkswagen has a green range for their cars known as BlueMotion. These greener versions are available for the Polo, Golf, Golf Plus, Jetta, Passat Saloon and Passat Estate. The BlueMotion Polo currently produces 99g/km of carbon dioxide.
